All around The World Fancy Dress ideas

This fancy dress theme is very popular with a lot of parties and festivals. For example, the theme for Larmer Tree Festival 2014 is "Four Corners of the World"
Around the world is generally a very fun theme with endless possibilities. Here are some great ideas for you to consider:

French.

French themed  fancy dress is a very obvious one, but is very fun, effective and straight forward.
Red, white and blue are the main colours of stereotypical French outfits and vertical stripes are essential. Accessorise your costume with a beret, perhaps a moustache for men and even a string of garlic.

Mexican.

This is another great sub category for this particular theme of fancy dress. It is very popular for last minute dress up, as there is not really very much to it. All you really need is a poncho and sombrero hat and this style will work well for men and women. For men in particular, you can also wear a moustache.
Another cool idea is to dress as a Mexican wrestler. You can either buy a full wrestler costume or make one yourself with tights, underwear, mask, cape etc..

For women who want to look a little more feminine, poncho style dresses are available, or you could dress in a Mexican fiesta style dress and accessorise with flowers and maracas.

Mexican Day of the Dead.

This style of costume and make up has become very popular lately. It is based on the Mexican 'Day of the Dead' and costumes can be quite beautiful and elaborate. Make up is a very important part of this look and often is the focal point of the costume.

To achieve this look, simply get a pretty colourful Mexican style dress. Anything corseted or with a petticoat is a bonus. Then, apply your skull make up. You can go as crazy as you like, just make sure it's colourful! Also, women usually wear flowers in their hair. Men can do the same, just with a colourful suit.

In our store, we have a huge range of Smiffy's and Snazaroo face paint in lots of colours.

German.

Stereotypically German fancy dress is another popular 'Around the World' fancy dress idea. The different costumes are usually quite similar, however there are variations in male and female costumes of this theme. It mostly consists of laaderhosen, a hat and the colour green.

A German bar maid fancy dress is always a good choice. It is pretty, cheap and easy to find.

Bollywood.

Indian Bollywood fancy dress is another option. It is bright, colourful and fun. It works well for women and men and costumes are relatively easy to find.

Just like the costumes on the right, if dressing as a pair, coordinating colours is a good idea.

Remember, when it comes to Bollywood fancy dress, you can never have too many accessories or jewels.

Red Indian.

This theme is very easy to achieve and also very recognisable. Costumes in this style are also usually quite cheap and don't need too many accessories.

As long as you get a costume with a lot of fringing and geometric patterns, your costume will look great. Once teamed up with beaded jewellery and feathers, the fancy dress will look very authentic.
Another quick tip, plaited hair was very commonly worn by Red Indians.

Chinese.

Chinese fancy dress is opulent, pretty and comfy to wear. The fabric is usually lightweight and comes in various different patterns and colours.

It is great for women and men, as the costumes are quite similar, except that the men's costumes come mostly with trousers and the women's costumes are dresses or skirts.
Colours such as red and blue are the most popular in this theme, but pink can work well too.

For women, a Geisha costume is a very nice idea. Just paint your face white as a Geisha and get the right hair and you're set. In our shop, we have a huge range of Snazaroo and Smiffy's face paint, so come and take a look!

Walk on the Wild Side fancy dress ideas.

We have two ideas for fancy dress categories for this particular theme: Wild animals or crazy, 'wild' costumes. We have a great range of animal costumes in our store and we have plenty of crazy costumes and fun accessories.

Wild animals.

Wild animals are easy costumes to pull off. You simply pick your favourite animal and buy the costume. Some examples of animals is a lion, tiger, monkey, bear, wolf etc...

The animal costumes are comfy and easy to wear.

Animal costumes for women.

Smiffy's has some sexy animal costumes in their Fever range. They are perfect for Hen parties and other events. They are high quality and reflect the chosen animal very well.

Animal Face paint.

To finish off your costume, why not try your hand at face painting? We have a range of face paints in our store for you to use. Most animal face paint looks are easy to achieve, just work from a reference and make sure you have the right colours.

Here are some face paint ideas for animal themed fancy dress:

At our store in Bristol, we have a huge range of Snazaroo and Smiffy's face paint. We have a large selection of colours from you to browse.

'Wild' costumes.

For a 'wild' costume, think outside of the box. A wild costume could be anything crazy, unusual or funny. Brightly coloured things like morph suits work well and require little to no planning. Other ideas could be things such as bacon costumes, baby costumes or men dressing in drag.

Here is a link to a Baby costume on our website

Morph suits are very popular and work well with this theme. They are brightly coloured and easy to wear.

Drag.

For some men, dressing in drag is the epitome of the 'Wild side' and we stock some great drag queen costumes from Widmann. There are some great dresses in specific colours, which match specific wig colours. Just put on a pair of heels, some makeup and you're set!

Our new product lines, ready for the festival season!

http://www.hollywood.uk.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/party-ponchos-artwork.jpgThe festival season is upon us (Yippee!!!) and we're so excited about some of the new product lines we've got in ready!

Party Ponchos

Party ponchos are a new product from Smiffy's for 2014, based on the popularity of ponchos for wet festivals like Glastonbury, Smiffy's have designed their own range to appeal to festival go-ers, and we love them!

There are a few different styles, and they look brilliant. Definitely a must-have for festival go-ers this season!

Make Up

We already stocked a variety of face paints and glitters, but now we've extended the range to include other brands - which gives us a lot more colour choice!

Stargazer

We've stocked Stargazer lashes ever since we opened, but now we're starting to stock a few of their other products!
We've just added their glitter gels, neon hair gels and UV nail polish to our collection, and we're hoping to add some UV glitter shakers and plenty more products for the near future (just got to find space for them all!).

So far they're already proving a hit, especially the glitter gels and neon hair gels.

Smiffy's

One of the best known brands in fancy dress has always been Smiffy's and they have their own range of face paints, glitters and all sorts to compete with brands like Snazaroo. We stock their whole range of face paint colours, from small crayons to whole pots!
They also have a great range of UV face paints too, much cheaper than other brands. Plus UV hair and body sprays so plenty of options for party-goers!

Snazaroo

We've always stocked Snazaroo, both the face paints and glitter gels and iridescent powders, but now we're adding a few more colours! Although Smiffy's have a wide range, they don't have quite as many colours as Snazaroo do.... so stocking Snazaroo too adds a whole lot more colours to our stock!

Just about the most popular brand of face paints, and they have a wide range of colours available (and the brand of choice by pro face painters!) they're a little more expensive than other brands, but they are very good!

Stargazer and Smiffy's (which we stock) do cheaper glitter gels than Snazaroo, but Snazaroo are still a firm favourite with our customers, and have a different set of colours, so we definitely have plenty of choice!
